For several years now, my father (Sperry Hogue) and I have thoroughly enjoyed our shared adventure in working toward the creation and production of a book, inspired by our love of the Lord and of Photography. Our new book, Portraits of the Christ, is finally here, and we’re excited to share it! Each chapter briefly addresses one particular characteristic of Jesus in written word, and each of these essays is accompanied by a photograph depiction of that characteristic.
To ‘create’ a book based on the Creator of the world, and to try to do it justice – now, that is a very humbling thing. The whole process of working with my dad to brainstorm ways we might adequately portray Christ’s qualities pictorially has been challenging, for sure, as well as fantastic fun. And through the course of trying to summarize each essay with one simple ‘core’ image, we have begun to see Jesus in ways we’d never done before. He is, indeed, beautifully complex!
Here’s an article written by our local newspaper, discussing the process of collaborating on the ideas within the book. We are also now on www.facebook.com/PortraitsOfTheChrist, which will be an interactive page to encourage a community of creativity as we explore the nature of our Lord together.
The book can be found at our personalized Amazon.com affiliated e-store https://www.createspace.com/3560787 or from Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk directly (just search for ‘Nathan Hogue’ or ‘Sperry Hogue’). If you are interested in ordering a signed copy instead, please contact us personally by email: email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org . We pray the book will be as inspiring and encouraging to you – the reader – as it was to us throughout the process of putting it together. And may you be blessed – as we feel blessed – in knowing Him better as a result!
